Propaganda posters


In room 19 we have been working on propaganda posters that could help people during the war, my poster was based on dogs helping the cops to catch smugglers, spies, ect. the reason i chose dogs is because of there noses.Now i know most people would be saying why would choose a dogs nose well dogs have a magnisfisent sense of smell, so that means if they even get a little sniff of their scent they can run through crowd of people and still catch that person.

Japanese Visit

It was a slow morning for me, as usual i didn’t eat breakfast “Mum come on we need to go” .
My mum nodded and got into the car.Of course as most mornings went i nearly went to school in my onesie! “Oops” i said as i went back inside. I came back outside in my uniform and then we were of.

When i got there i didn’t even notice that it was Thursday.I walked into class and as usual everyone was playing on the laptops “Typical” i said to myself, And walked to my toteray
and just as i was about to open it RING i sighed “ why do i even try”. Then mrs Talijaard said
“Everyone on the mat, we need to be quick!” i turned to Alaska and asked “What’s going on?”
she didn’t reply but i heard people talking about Japanese buddies.

After the roll was done we headed to the auditorium. Then the Japanese students came in,
we did games like calligraphy,kendama, the face game etc.Then came the part were we met
our buddies and that where i met Anju Tanaka (i just called her Anju). Then she went and got her lunch and we both headed for class, Where my favourite Teacher Mrs Talijaard gave the japanese students a warm welcome. then we headed out for lunch.After we ate me,Anju,hannah and some other people played skipping. It was so fun...but i kept getting caught on rope.After that was done we went to class and did paper weaving!.

Paper weaving was a bit hard but other than that it was super fun.Once most of us were finished, we headed out for a game on the senior playground Anju and i had alot of fun but then we had to got we took and a rest and watched room 21 play dodge ball. Then we went back to class and just as i step inside, the bell rang (5 minutes later)  what i found weird is that all the japanese student were eating their sandwiches .After that we went back to the auditorium and said our goodbyes and then sent them off with a haka.

I’m glad they came but i’m also sad they had to leave
but i found interesting to met someone completely different to me

i finally finished our first quest for our inquiry, but its a little weird seeing that my partner for the inquiry didn't participate on the weekends at all... am i the only one who does this kind of stuff on the weekend???

Bike Skills

i found it tricky using only one leg to push forward and made me feel awkward.
i liked the fact that we could ride back properly i felt much more comfortable.
next i want to begin with a new strategy of riding a bike.

I liked finding the answers to the questions that I did not know.
I found it tricky answering 3 of the questions because I did not know some of them.
Next I want to try something harder and challenging so that I can build stamina.

My African Praise poem

African Praise Poem.
How do I feel about myself?
The African culture is steeped in oral tradition, and the traditional way
for Africans to introduce themselves in a new situation.
IALT write a traditional Praise Poem, to introduce myself to the class.
Success Criteria:
I will explore the subject of African praise poetry,
I will take risks, and use imagery to reveal myself in poetic form.
I will follow the structure of a typical African Praise poem.
I will perform my poem to an audience, maybe using drums.
Structure:
Line 1 -        Introducing myself.

Line 2 –           Introduction to my family and heritage.
Line 3 -        Animal metaphor
Line 4 –         Nature metaphor
Line 5 –         Personality and Qualities
Chorus -           Refrain describing my talents, co-written by my peers.


I found it tricky find descriptive words for my Praise poem. But it was easy choosing the Refrain. Next i want to work on something more challenging to post.

Welcome to my Blog

Hi my name is Rebeca.  I go to Elm Park School.I'm in room 19 with Mrs. Taljaard and she is really fun.  Almost everyday I come to school with a big smile on my face.  I'm really keen to become a school Councillor & a House Captain.  I'm very excited about camp and all the fun activities.  I'm looking forward to having visitors on my blog and hope to see lots of comments.


I'm exited about this year because in year 6 everything is more challenging and that makes it really fun to learn new things.  I hope we have more trips than last year  i heard about the dinner and dance and i'm really exited about it.
